Accessories and Colors for Decorating the Kid’s Room Interior

Nursery décor is an important issue to think over while waiting for a baby. Here are ideas on what colors and decorative accessories to choose for the nursery interior.

The interior of the baby’s room is important for the little one to feel comfortable and happy in the new environment. As the kid grows older, the nursery is to become the place where he or she sleeps, plays, and, in general, spends pretty much time. Though decorating an interior of a nursery may seem complicated and challenging, it is, in reality, a rather fun process.

Choosing a Color Theme for Decorating the Kid’s Room

Color plays an important role in the interior of the nursery. First of all, the chosen color defines colors of the accessories. Secondly, a smartly chosen color will make a baby feel well and happy in the room.

The best option for the kid’s room is pastels. Use shades of blue, green, purple, orange. However, take into consideration that warm colors are the first a baby learns to distinguish. So, yellow, orange, or red may become an excellent color for the nursery. Just don’t make it too bright.

After a baby has learned to distinguish and recognize warm colors, comes the turn of cold ones, such as blue and green. So, even though these colors are not dominating in the nursery décor, make sure they are present in the room in order for the baby to get acquainted with the whole color palette as it grows up.

Decorative Nursery Ideas: Accessories

List of possible accessories for decorating a nursery may be endless. Here are some examples of how the kid’s room can be decorated:

Use stencils to decorate the nursery with painted flowers, butterflies, letters, automobiles, or whatever else comes to mind. Parents can buy ready stencils, or make some on their own. Just choose a picture that will make a nice shape for a stencil, print it out enlarged to the needed size, cut out, and either use the outline to paint inside, or paint around the cut out stencil.
Make a chair rail to paint lower part of the room one color, and upper part – another color. Decorate the chair rail with patterned wallpaper, wallpaper trim borders, vinyl wall decals, or just paint a line of another color, with an own ornament.
Use self-made decorative elements made of paper. Cut flowers, letter, numerals, starts, or whatever else, out of colored paper, and stick to the wall by means of adhesive tape, for instance. Have them all of different color. Such decorations may carry two functions: firstly, they add color to the room, and, secondly, can be used for the kid to learn colors, shapes, letters, etc.
Print out large painted pictures, and frame. The paintings may picture animals, plants, cartoon heroes, cars, or anything parents think is appropriate for the nursery. Just make sure they are bright and clear. Decorate one of the walls with such framed pictures. But don’t hang them too high. They should be easy to see for the baby, so locate the pictures somewhere in the middle of the wall.

Use mild and light décor and furniture colors for the nursery’s interior to be cozy and comfortable. Use stencils, chair rails, decorative elements made of paper, or framed pictures as accessories for decorating the baby’s room. Chosen or made with care, such elements of décor are sure to make the kid’s room cozy and comfortable for the child.
