Flowers Add Ambience and Beauty to HomesFresh Floral Arrangements Shows that People Care about the Home
Fresh Flowers add beauty and fragrance to the house. Placing flowers around the house will liven up the decor and make visitors to the home feel very warm and welcoming.
Flowers have long been a decorative tool. It can be as simple as a few flowers from the garden in a vase or more exotic as a formal arrangement prepared by a florist. But whatever form it takes, flowers lend a very pleasant ambience and project a welcoming feel to a home. To make the most of what the flowers can do for the home, it is important to remember a few points regarding floral arrangements. Floral Designs Should Suit the SettingEach room in a home lends itself to a variety of flower arrangements. However, it is important to select the arrangement to suits the specific setting of a room. The colour, texture and the size of the arrangement should compliment the decor and furnishings of the room. The arrangement should also satisfy the sense of proportion. A flat long arrangement would look good on a long dinning table, while a dainty arrangement will look appealing on a small table. Use Flowers for EmphasisFlowers can accentuate the colour and furnishings in a room. Colours can be both matching or contrasting depending on how much emphasis is required. The style of the arrangement can also add emphasis. Styles can be modern, oriental or traditional. However, it is important to remember not to mix the style of the room and the style of the floral arrangement. A modern flower arrangement will not lend the required emphasis in a room with a traditional setting. Flower Arranging StylesThere are three basic flower arranging styles- traditional, oriental and modern. These are three very different styles and care should be taken to match the floral arrangement style to the room. Traditional Flower ArrangementsThis is an arrangement with a mass of flowers complimented with foliage. The flowers can be of the same variety or a grouping of mixed flowers. It can be round, oval, fan shaped or in the shape of a pyramid. The containers can be tall or short depending on the type of flowers used and the location of the arrangement. Modern Flower ArrangementsThese are arrangements that reflect the personal style and preference of the person doing the arranging. Apart from the more traditional use of a vase, flowers and foliage, the arranger can use other meterials such as wood in an unusual but eye-catching way. The modern arrangements have no fixed rules and is open to the imagination of the person. Asian Flower ArrangementsIn this type of arrangement the container is of equal, if not more, importance as the flowers. The display has an emphatic formula and uses very little flowers and foliage. It is, however, complimented by the use of strategically placed twigs, stems, and other materials to create a simple but beautiful arrangement which can be formal or informal. Whatever the style of the room, complimenting and accentuating the decor with strategically placed fresh floral arrangements will enhance the feel of the room and contribute to the mood of the people in it.
