The queen of wedding dresses has gone "Martha Stewart". Gown designer extraordinaire, Vera Wang, has tapped the fragrance, jewelry, eyewear and shoe markets in the past couple years with great success. She has now developed a partnership with Kohl’s department stores and has created a line of interiors.
Wang’s signature touches such as pleats, pin tucks and appliqués are still present, even on sheets and other bedding pieces, giving them that whimsy and feminine touch that women flock to when it comes to having a Wang wedding.
Her current bedding color pallet is cool and neutral. Expect to see lots of tans, creams, pinks, taupes, and soft baby blues. White also plays an important role in the Wang home interiors lineup as it evens out the other, softer colors. The white keeps linens looking crisp and sharp while the edges are trimmed in eye pleasing pastels and punctuated by floral and ruffled accents.
The line is brand new and very limited. Hopefully, it will be expanded as the holidays approach, but currently there is a just a taste of Wang in the home interiors section of Kohl’s.
The most expected pieces in her bedding line up are two comforters, which come in pure white and mauve-pink color. Both of these pieces are romantic at heart with delicate embroidered roses adorning the fronts. The Pure White line features crisp accessories that rely on the depth of color contrast to give it an inviting feeling. The Blossom set throws ruffles and pleats around, creating an almost monochromatic feel that offers great textural depth.
The most surprising entry is a charcoal gray bedroom set called City Night. The dark, almost gloomy look of this bedroom set is slightly offset by crisp white sheets that are trimmed with an elegant gray satin, but the overall look is still a bit drab and very “un-Wang”.
Vera Wang’s bath collection for Kohl’s is also extremely limited, featuring a set of towels, a tub mat and a bath rug. The color pallet for these pieces is much broader, featuring some darker colors such as persimmon, indigo and plum along with the standard soft, almost pastel, colors. The problem is the pallet is so varied that it almost seems “standard” and not hand selected by Wang.
The real bonus is that Wang’s clothing line is pretty great and features hues that complement, if not exactly match, the interior line so you can always look good at home, which is a romantic treat when it comes to lingerie that matches your bedding.
