I am going to replace my formica countertops with granite. My cabinets are antique white with mirrored backsplashes, kitchen floor is medium oak, stove is antique fire-engine red, all other appliances are black. Every salesperson tells me I should go with very dark countertops. My kitchen is a long, fairly narrow galley type and I'm afraid dark countertops will make it seem smaller and close. Would it be better to choose a tan/brown color with some black in it?
